Bruce Allen: Team presidents should be judged by wins and losses

Washington team President Bruce Allen thinks he upgraded at the quarterback position this offseason because Alex Smith has won more games than Kirk Cousins as a starting quarterback. But in making that case, Allen may have inadvertently painted himself as a failure.

Allen said at the league meeting that everyone in football — not just the quarterback but everybody, including the team president — should be judged on winning or losing.

“Wins and losses is the most important statistic when it comes to an equipment manager, a team president, a quarterback, a running back, a guard or a coach,” Allen said, via the Washington Post.

But in 2016, Palm Beach County also was the epicenter of Florida’s opioid crisis; 571 people died from overdoses that year alone, the most of any county in the state and a 110 percent increase from the previous year, according to an analysis of state data by the Palm Beach Post.

Jamie checked into Beachway Therapy Center in Boynton Beach, an intensive in-patient facility that cost $15,000 per month. He spent more than a month at Beachway before moving into Sober Living in Delray, a supervised apartment complex.

The Chiefs made Hunt the 86th overall pick, and in Week 1, he showed he was drafted too low. His 246 yards from scrimmage in the season opener were the most ever in a player’s debut.

“I feel like I’m getting [respect] now, but coming up I definitely didn’t feel I was getting the respect I deserved,” Hunt said on Good Morning Football, via the team website. “I just put that right here [in my mind] and now you have to show and be about it.”

Hunt, 22, rushed for a league-leading 1,327 yards, while catching 53 passes for 455 yards and three touchdowns. He wants to grow in the passing game.

“I want to be known as a guy who can do it all,” Hunt said. “Le’Veon [Bell] is a great receiver out of the backfield and route-runner, and I definitely want to show more of that.”

Hunt’s 1,782 yards from scrimmage ranked third in the league in 2017.buccaneers_118

Odell Beckham Jr. Jersey to report Monday for Giants’ offseason program

Beckham is scheduled to fly from Los Angeles to New Jersey later Sunday. He plans to be at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center on Monday to check in, work out in the gym and meet with some people.

It’s a sign of solidarity as new coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Dave Gettleman attempt to reshape the team’s culture. While Beckham still desires a new contract, it provides the Giants a chance to look in person at the ankle he shattered in October and shows that Beckham is willing to buy into the new program.

Shurmur has stated publicly that he believes it’s important for all his players to participate in the offseason program. He wants to use it to build chemistry and fortify relationships.

Beckham and Shurmur met in Los Angeles last month for a getting-to-know-you session. Shurmur said it went well.

Beckham wasn’t at Womens Scott Tolzien Jersey Duke University last week, where quarterback Eli Manning took some of his receivers for their annual trip.

Because the real difference between the two LeBrons has been felt on the defensive end, basic statistical measurements have had a hard time accurately capturing the magnitude of the flipped switch. With the massive data from Second Spectrum, however, each aspect of LeBron’s defensive impact can be measured and understood at a deeper level.

Starting with the 2013-14 season, Second Spectrum has tracked the location of everything that moves on a basketball court at a rate of 25 times per second, and with this data, each aspect of LeBron’s game — and, in turn, his impact on the Cleveland Cavaliers competing for a title in 2018 — can be broken down and measured.

Let’s start with LeBron’s on-ball defense. During the regular season, when LeBron is the primary defender, opponents attempt shots with an average quantified shot quality (qSQ) of 53 percent. This means an average NBA shooter, given the same shot type, level of defensive pressure and location, would have an effective field goal percentage (eFG) of 53 percent on shots taken against LeBron.

he has receiver Terrelle Pryor Jersey (No. 11) running an intermediate comeback route to Griffin’s backside, giving him a quick open read.

Thomas Morstead Authentic Jersey However, that backside read is complicated by Chargers safety Jahleel Addae (No. 37), who jumps into Griffin’s line of sight on a blitz.

Flacco is nobody’s definition of a thrower on the move, but if offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg wants Authentic Chris Kunitz Jersey to make the most of his backup quarterback, this touchdown against the Steelers in Week 16 is an optimal example of how Griffin can still get things done.

It’s difficult to see the reasoning behind the one-year deal the Jags handed Moncrief, given that it will pay him a minimum of $7 million and hit up to $9.6 million with incentives. You might argue that Moncrief is still young, and indeed, he doesn’t turn 25 until August. The wide receiver market has certainly been crazy, and if the Jaguars wanted to add another weapon for Blake Bortles, there weren’t going to be many bargains out there.

Last July, I wrote a piece in which I broke down Griffin’s tape and listed a few of his most appealing landing spots.

In that piece, I outlined examples of several things that can still get in Griffin’s way鈥攈is inability to throw consistently with anticipation, his need for clear openings and windows to make things happen and his tendency to telegraph throws. It’s a dangerous combination, and Griffin’s lack of playing time in 2017 doesn’t speak to any tangible improvements we can see on tape.

Griffin eventually gets taken down by linebacker Jarvis Jones (No. 95) as Jones gets past left tackle Joe Thomas (No. 73) on an inside rush from the back of the pocket, but this isn’t Thomas’ fault. Griffin has more than enough time to diagnose the pass rush and find an ideal open receiver.

As you can see, Griffin has several options downfield if he’s able to go through his reads, make a quick decision and throw with anticipation to his ideal target.

Odell Beckham Jr. Jersey trade talk ‘very real’

Nothing like a little drama to make the offseason more interesting, right The New York Giants have certainly been surrounded by plenty of it as the future of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. appears to be in question.

Game Mens Jack Eichel Jersey It seems unlikely that the Giants would trade their best offensive weapon. But NFL insider Adam Schefter said recently during an appearance on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast the possibility of a trade is very real, absolutely real.

I can ignore it, Mayfield told Although some things really tick me off and I want to prove them wrong. At the same time, it really doesn’t bother me that much, Mayfield added, because I know the people that say some of these things have never actually taken a snap behind center, never had a 300-pound lineman about to hit them while they have to read the defense downfield.

If I was worried too much about it, I’d be worried about the wrong things. But I do use some of it as motivation. I can listen to all the people patting me on the back, or I can listen to the people saying I need to get better. I know I need to get better, or else there would be nobody saying that. Fair enough. After all, the guy has been discounted at virtually every turn from Texas Tech walk-on to Heisman Trophy winner.

LA has made trades like no other team this offseason, led by the acquisition of new starting cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib. The Rams also sent former Pro Bowl edge rusher Robert Quinn to the Dolphins and signed current Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

A Beckham deal would go straight to the top of that star-studded marquee, and wide receiver is a need for the Rams after they failed to re-sign Sammy Watkins. But two factors make such a move undesirable and unreasonable for the Los Angeles.

Adding Beckham to an already volatile personality mix with Peters, Talib and Suh might be much too much to handle. The Rams also need to worry about paying Aaron Donald, the best defensive player in the NFL, what he Brandon Crawford Authentic Jersey wants beyond 2018. Taking on another contract concern from the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, in which Beckham was selected one spot ahead of Donald, would put the Rams in a tough situation with running back Todd Gurley and quarterback Jared Goff needing big deals, too, in the near future.

The New York Jets can’t be accused of sitting on their hands at quarterback in 2018.

In free agency, they brought back veteran Josh McCown and signed Teddy Bridgewater. They also traded the No. 6 pick and three second-rounders to Indianapolis to move up to No. 3, presumably to give themselves a chance to land a potential franchise signal-caller.

The Jets could have quite the camp battle this summer to determine who will start under center for them in 2018. But once head coach Todd Bowles makes that decision, he needs to resist second-guessing himself if his team gets off to a slow start.

At the same time, the Cardinals were able to pick up a sixth-round pick for a player they likely had little intention of keeping on their roster.

Veldheer is a curious fit for the Broncos, who already invested a first-round pick on left tackle Garett Bolles and gave Menelik Watson a three-year, $18.4 million deal before last season. Watson wasn’t very good, but given that he hadn’t been impressive with the Raiders, that shouldn’t have been an enormous surprise.

Watson remains a major injury risk — he has played just 34 games in five pro seasons, and he went down after seven games with a foot injury — but Veldheer is years removed from his peak as a useful tackle. The Broncos could cut Watson or renegotiate Veldheer’s deal, but committing to either right tackle seems like a bad idea. You might imagine a world where these two provide injury insurance for one another, but this is more plausibly a situation in which the Broncos are paying two subpar right tackles significant money.

Mariota used his legs more in that playoff win than in the regular season, but at the combine, new Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see a scramble-happy Mariota in 2018.

I think that we have an idea what plays he may end up running and what plays he may end up handing it off or throwing, Vrabel said, per Ron Sanders of 247 Sports. We’ve got to be smart, and he’s got to be smart. How much are we going to use him to run the ball How much harm is he going to put himself in There’s a lot of factors that go into it—the risk/reward of when he does run with the football.

Whether it’s with his arms or his legs, the Titans just need to see a better Mariota in 2018.

Patterson’s role has instead been as a kick returner, where he has been very effective over his career. Patterson has five kick return touchdowns over his career, all of which came in Minnesota. He’ll take over as the primary kick return man for the Patriots given that Dion Lewis left for the Titans in free agency.

Instead, teams coming to the Eastern or Central time zones would play more of their away games in the 4:05 p.m. ET or 4:25 p.m. ET slots. The three teams seeking the change were a combined 5-10 last season in road games that kicked off at 1 p.m. ET, which feels like a 10 a.m. game to them. As noted by CBS Sports, the Oakland Raiders might have the biggest issue with early starts. There was a stretch from 2009-15 in which the Raiders lost 15 straight early games. They were 1-2 last season. The Los Angeles Rams (4-1) were the only western team to have a winning record in early starts in 2017. The Denver Broncos, who are in the Mountain time zone, were 0-4. Authentic Youth Troy Brouwer Jersey Chief operating officer Tina Becker will represent the Panthers on all voting matters and any other league business, a team spokesman said Wednesday.

Becker took over Richardson’s day-to-day duties in December. That transition came a day after Richardson announced he was selling the team. That announcement came on the same day of a Sports Illustrated report detailing financial settlements Richardson made to former employees over racial and sexual misconduct allegations.

Richardson, 81, has missed most of the owners meetings in recent years because of health issues. He did attend a spring quarterly meeting in Charlotte two years ago. While a source close to the process identified March as an action month in terms of the sale of the Panthers, owners are not expected to vote on the final bid next week at the meetings at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando.
