The Jaguars made their intentions very clear during the offseason: Build an elite defense and lean heavily on the running game in order to limit Blake Bortles’ contributions. So far, so good. The Jaguars have called run on a league-high 52 percent of their offensive snaps. The defense dismantled the Steelers on Sunday. And it is now allowing 1.6 touchdowns per game (fifth lowest). The unit is allowing 5.3 yards per pass attempt (second best) but has struggled against the run (5.4 yards per carry allowed is the worst). Jacksonville’s D/ST is, by far, the top-scoring unit in fantasy, and the team’s light schedule moving forward locks the unit in as a strong play. The Jaguars’ defensive breakout is legit and far from a surprise.

The Bucs’ biggest storyline on the injury front continues to be the absence of middle linebacker Kwon Alexander (hamstring) and weakside linebacker Lavonte David (ankle). Alexander has missed three games and David has missed two. Before the team broke for its mini-bye last week, coach Dirk Koetter was hopeful the Bucs could get some of their injured defensive players back. They’ll have a walk-through Tuesday night and then will have a better idea of where those players stand when they practice Wednesday afternoon. They certainly could use both given that they now have to prepare for Adrian Peterson, whom the Cardinals just traded for. — Jenna Laine
Kansas City is the last undefeated team in the league, and watching the Chiefs makes it clear it’s not an early-season fluke. The Chiefs have a ludicrous amount of speed on offense, and coach Andy Reid is designing a pile of offensive wrinkles around his thrilling personnel. The Panthers are also doing a lot of different things with pre-snap alignment and personnel groupings, taking advantage of the mismatches they can get with their big wideouts, dynamic rookie Christian McCaffrey and their power run game, depending on what’s called for.
