Kirk Cousins has been up for a long-term contract with the Redskins since the end of the 2015 season, and yet, despite the fact he has started 36 consecutive games for the team and thrown 61 touchdown passes in those starts, he doesn’t have a multi-year contract.

For a long time, the assumption was that the Redskins wouldn’t pull the trigger, but one unidentified NFL executive says he thinks it’s actually Cousins who is holding up the process. That same executive thinks he has no desire at all to sign with Washington on more than the franchise tag.

After meeting with a specialist, Eifert has decided to undergo surgery on Thursday and is expected to be out 4-6 months.

Eifert has featured in just two games this season, hauling in four passes for 42 yards.

Tyler Kroft has stepped up in Eifert’s absence with 14 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores came in a 31-7 win over the Browns.

Eifert, 27, is in the last of a four-year $8.2 million deal. In 2015, he caught 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The 24-year-old has been one of the most unstoppable players in the NFL since coming into the league in 2014. In three seasons, the LSU product had at least 90 catches and 1,300 yards receiving. He’s certainly worth the investment, the question just remains exactly how valuable.

That argument got clouded Sunday when Beckham suffered a season-ending broken ankle. Now the question remains if he’ll come back and be the same player he was before the injury. For Miller, he has no doubt his friend will do just that, and when he does, Miller expects him to get paid.
